Winemaker, Sam Kaplan, utilizes the harsh mountain conditions to produce 2,000 cases annually of a variety of wines with a taste profile unique to the region. The Estate wines consist of a Cabernet Blend (Estate Red), Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. The Cabernet Blend is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot, from 16 of the vineyard’s 22 blocks. It is aged for 22 months in French Oak barrels, and one year in a bottle. The Syrah is a consistently robust, full-bodied wine with depth and fullness, but is also rounded out by an elegant silkiness. Completing the Estate wines, the Sauvignon Blanc is an homage to the classic white wines of Bordeaux. The blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc creates a perfect mixture of floral aromatics with notes of tropical fruit and honeysuckle, balanced with clean acid and minerality.

Anomaly Vineyards is located at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains just west of the small historic town of St. Helena in California’s Napa Valley. Owners Steve and Linda Goldfarb serve as stewards of the property, while relying on Winemaker Mark Porembski to frame the grace of the vineyard in each successive vintage since 2005.

The inaugural vintage was handcrafted by the “budding garagistes” in 1997 from six rows that were planted next to the Goldfarb’s home. The first commercial vintage was produced in 2000 from the one-acre parcel of land directly across from the original vines, yielding about 300 cases. From our now three vineyard blocks, spanning eight acres, planted to the Bordeaux varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, we specialize in the production of just one wine – Cabernet Sauvignon – approximately 1,000 cases annually.
