The 6th annual Dealing for Duchenne event, 6pm – at the legendary Sony Pictures Studios. The evening includes a celebrity poker tournament and charity gambling, amazing auction, special live musical guest and dinner by Wolfgang Puck. Proceeds will benefit the Center for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at UCLA.
Webinar with GSK

You are invited to participate in a “Drisapersen Update” webinar with GSK. The purpose of the webinar is to update the Duchenne community about Phase II clinical trial results for GSK’s drisapersen drug for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. GSK investigator John Kraus will present and answer submitted questions. CureDuchenne, in collaboration with MDA and PPMD, is pleased to co-sponsor this webinar.
2013 Scientific Summit Dinner
March 29, 2013CureDuchenne’s scientific advisory board meets yearly to review our research goals and develop the most impactful research plan which will get treatments to Duchenne patients as soon as possible.This year, our advisors have generously offered to participate with local Duchenne families for an informal dinner on Friday, March 29th where they will share a brief explanation of their current work and answer questions.

Ice Duchenne-Benefiting CureDuchenne

Western Michigan University is hosting a weekend long “Ice Duchenne” fundraiser on February 22-23 to benefit CureDuchenne. The Western Michigan University Bronco Hockey team, a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), will sell raffle tickets to raise money and help find a cure for Duchenne.

February 20, 2013
CureDuchenne was honored to host a webinar on February 20, 2013, in collaboration with PPMD and MDA, to discuss accelerated approval for drugs for rare diseases. Dr. Robert Temple, director of the Office of Medical Policy of FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, presented detailed information on the different options available to speed the approval of drugs. Dr. Temple also answered questions posed by the participants.

Climb to CureDuchenne: Pick Your Peak

Pick a mountain, hill or tall building to climb, raise funds and increase awareness of Duchenne, a devastating and lethal muscle disease that impacts 1 in 3,500 boys. Boys with Duchenne are usually diagnosed by the age of 5, in a wheelchair by age 12 and most don’t survive their mid-20s. Every day two boys die from Duchenne. Duchenne can occur in any family, from any race and from any background. Support Duchenne boys by participating in this year’s Climb to CureDuchenne.

More than 300 guests enjoyed an elegant evening with fabulous food and fine wine for a good cause at the Champions to CureDuchenne Newport Beach Gala on February 11 at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort. CureDuchenne raised close to $500,000 to help fund research to find a cure for Duchenne.
CureDuchenne 2012 Scientific Summit
February 11, 2012CureDuchenne provided a valuable resource to the Duchenne community by bringing together the top Duchenne researchers on February 10-11 for the 3rd Annual CureDuchenne Scientific Summit. The scientists discussed strategy and vision for CureDuchenne research priorities during an all-day session. CureDuchenne research continues to focus on promising treatments that move science from the lab to patients in order to help save this generation of Duchenne boys.

Climb to CureDuchenne: Pick Your Peak
June 1, 2011
In the month of June, 10 teams around the country climbed mountains, hills and tall buildings for the 3rd annual “Climb to CureDuchenne: Pick Your Peak.” One team, which included CureDuchenne founder Paul Miller, NHL Stanley Cup Champion Scott Niedermayer and Scientific Advisory Board Member Dr. Barry Byrne, climbed the Grand Tetons summiting at 13,775 feet. Another team made a symbolic climb of the Capitol steps in Washington, D.C. In addition to raising funds for CureDuchenne, all the teams helped raise awareness in their communities.

Duchenne parents Amy and Chris Martin hosted their fourth annual star-studded “Dealing for Duchenne” at Sony Pictures Studio in Los Angeles, Calif. Over 600 attendees, including television personalities, recording artists and Hollywood celebrities, came together to play poker, bid on silent and live auction items and “raise the paddle.” Over $330,000 was raised to support the Center for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at UCLA. The evening honored former Warner Bros. Chairman/CEO Tom Whalley and Corporate Partner Cadillac and General Motors Global Marketing Executive Joel Ewanick and his wife, Elizabeth.

The second annual “Champions to CureDuchenne Newport Beach Gala” at the Balboa Bay Club treated 300 people to a memorable evening of fine wine and dining. The evening honored CureDuchenne donors Vinny Smith and Kelly Thorton Smith and Spokesperson and NFL Super Bowl Champion Clay Matthews III. The event raised nearly $500,000.

In BIG Texas style, the second annual “Champions to CureDuchenne” party on Friday, April 29 was a huge success. The evening at the Texas Golf Club in Austin was co-hosted by Texas Longhorns Coach Mack Brown and his wife, Sally, and Duchenne parents Tim and Laura Revell. Over 500 of Austin’s social, sporting and business elite enjoyed an evening of live music, dancing and favorite dishes from area chefs. The event raised over $100,000 to fund Dr. Flanigan’s duplication mouse.
Super Bowl XLV

One hundred Super Bowl tickets, and accommodations, were donated to CureDuchenne by corporate partner Cadillac. Generous individuals around the country collectively bid nearly $500,000 on the tickets. Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, Texas, on Feb. 6 was a winning weekend for everyone involved including CureDuchenne Spokesperson Clay Matthews III’s Green Bay Packers team!
