Cooper Bowl Caped Crusaders

It wasn't just Super Bowl Sunday, it was COOPER BOWL SUNDAY!  At the crack of dawn, nearly 100 Caped CureDuchenne Crusaders banded together to get the word out about Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Friends and family members of Scott and Cathy Jones rose to the occasion and flashed their flourescent green capes  to thousands of attendees at the Redondo Beach 10K/5K.  Scott Jones was raised in the area and the beach community rallied together to support one of their own.

"Duchenne muscular Dystrophy is the most lethal genetic disorder of children worldwide...but ask around.  Most people haven't  ever heard of it," said Scott Jones.  "We hadn't until our son, Cooper, was diagnosed with Duchenne.  We want to make the public aware of the severity of this childhood disorder and how we need their help to fund research today."

After the race, everyone celebrated a gorgeous Southern California beach day at Kilkenney's Bar and Grill on the Redondo Beach Pier.  Our Crusaders are getting the word out...one city at a time.
