In 2004, Debra and Paul Miller had a chance meeting with members of the band Catchpenny, a Minneapolis-based Rock Band. The band members were moved by the CureDuchenne story.
Lead singer, Christian Schauf, set out to write a song that reflected the emotions of what anyone who deals with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) inevitably goes through. The band quickly produced a very moving song which has become a literal anthem for all the boys who have DMD.
Please take a moment to watch this video from Catchpenny and reflect on the words so beautifully sung.
(see the lyrics below)
Chance for a Lifetime Lyrics
They say there’s not enough reason, they say the cure is too much
A generation left as orphans, in a world that’s out of touch
But you’re everything I live for, my one and only son
And I’ll give you everything I can offer, to simply see you run
I will lift you up, I will give you strength
I will be your breath, when your world is giving in
I will find a way to make it through the night,
I’ll never leave your side, until we see the morning light
and a chance for a lifetime
The phone calls lead me nowhere, but how could I give up this fight?
When you tell me you feel weaker, when I kiss your head at night
So I’ll make it my only mission, and together we will stand
In the years we have together, in the life that you deserve
There’s nothing left to say. There’s no one here to blame
I know it seems unfair, but you gotta have faith that God will show the way
He will lift you up, He will give you strength,
He will be your breath, when your world is giving in
He will show the way to make it through the night
He’ll never leave your side, until we see the morning light
and a chance for a lifetime

At Cure Duchenne, we’re very pleased to announce the 2009 Climb to Cure Duchenne Video. It turned out great thanks to our friends at Coda.
In all, the climb helped us make great strides in raising awareness and money for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). We raised over $160,000 that is going directly to research for a cure!
Please take a moment to watch the video:

The path to a Cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy will come as a result of the actions of dedicated people all around the world. It’s up to individuals to start where they are and work with what they have.
Hayley Wigginton, an 18 year old young woman of Reading, UK, is one such individual.
As a loving and dedicated sister, she’s put together a video about her brother Daniel who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Her message is clear.
Please take a moment to watch this video and then share with all those you know who also want to see a cure happen in THIS generation of boys with DMD.
