On November 10th, 2009 Debra Miller, Founder and President of CureDuchenne, presented a check for $200,000.00 for a new Center for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research at UCLA.  The grant will go towards Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) research & clinic.

UCLA LogoMany of the funds going to UCLA were raised at this year’s “Dealing for Duchenne” Charity Poker Tournament.  Because of its continued success, CureDuchenne will be hosting its 3rd Annual tournament this year on June 12th, 2010 at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

The event is wonderfully orchestrated by Chris and Amy Martin (parents of a boy with Duchenne).  More details to come on this exciting event.

thank you for all that you are doing to find a cure for DMD and for keeping this site up to date with the latest research information… this site and the information you provide has been invaluable. it took 6 months from when my nephew was first suspected of having DMD (by his primary care physician) to finally getting a DNA test at UCLA… it was very nerve racking waiting. hopefully this donation will help kids/families in the So.Cal area more easily gain access to the research and treatments available.
